About Florence

Florence – birthplace of the Italian Renaissance - is the capital of the Tuscany region in Italy and is crammed with art, history, culture and wonderful architecture. The city houses dozens of beautiful piazzas, churches, galleries and museums and it is a compact city with less than half a million residents and most of the major tourist attractions are within easy walking distance of each other. It is, in fact possible to walk from one end of the centre of Florence to the other within half hour. Walking is not only the easiest way to get around but it also gives you the chance to take in as much of the ambience of this wonderful city as possible. The Uffizi Gallery is the city’s most famous and pays homage to masters such as Titian, Botticelli, Michelangelo and da Vinci but there are dozens of other world-class collections also within walking distance.
