Bali Guide
South Bali is the part of the island most visited, particularly Kuta Beach and the hip town of Seminyak with its upmarket hotels, bars and clubs and Kuta which is the focal point for the islands surfers; Central Bali is home to the islands cultural heritage at Ubud with several museums, the monkey forest and numerous craft shops as well as the main mountain range; West Bali leads to the National Park and ferries to neighbouring Java; North Bali is home to the old Capital city aswell as some unique black volcanic beaches; East Bali is home to an active volcano and Mount Agung as well as some picturesque coastal villages whilst the Southeastern Islands are popular with divers and other water sport enthusiasts.
Bali has deeply spiritual and religious Hindu culture, so there are numerous ways to experience this culture from visiting Hindu temples (make sure you are properly attired!) to the regular dance and music festivals. The island also hosts a number of national silence days, so its worth checking dates before you travel so you know what to expect!
Food is plentiful and cheap in Bali serving both Indonesian and international food.
There are international chains here but also numerous local cafes and restaurants. A the 5 star resorts however, you should expect to pay commensurate prices. Accommodation covers all budgets too from £5 per night to rental homes for £5000 a week.

About BaliThe Indonesian island of Bali plays host to a varied landscape including lush hills and mountains, rugged coastlines and endless white beaches, dense jungles and volcanic hillsides which all provide a unique environment for this deeply spiritual culture and support the notion of the island as an earthly paradise. It is a favourite destination for those looking for adventure aswell as those looking for some serious chillout time. Surfing or diving off the beautiful white beaches or hiking up to the stunning Mount Batur can be followed with some pampering at one of Bali’s many luxury spas. There is also a host of historical and archaeological attractions and the island is popular with a wide spectrum of visitors from back-packers travelling cheap through to international celebrities and the super-wealthy.
