About Paris

Paris, the capital city of France, located in the north of the country is home to over 2 million people within the central 20 arrondissements (districts) and there are over 10 million people living in the wider metropolitan area. The City Of Light (La Ville Lumiere) has the deserved reputation as one of the most romantic cities in the world and with its beautiful architecture, winding River Seine and discreet bistros and bars it is perfect for weekends away. Much of the city, including the river, is designated a UNESCO World Heritage site and there are numerous and instantly recognisable landmarks and museums to take in, including the Eiffel Tower, L’Arc de Triomphe, the Pompidou Centre, the Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Louvre – home to Mona Lisa, possibly the most famous painting in the world. It is also hugely influential in the creative industries of design, art, culture, food and fashion in particular and is home to some of the most influential fashion houses in the world including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior and Yves Saint Laurent. Paris Fashion Week is probably the most anticipated of the four major fashion weeks and has nurtured the renowned talents of John Galliano and Alexander McQueen.
