Tianjin GuideThe transport in Tianjin is well known for its reliability and excellence so getting to all of the tourist attractions is usually cheap and easy. Tianjin itself is also an extremely accessible place as it is able to be reached by sea, air, trains and buses. Tianjin is famous for its street snacks selling delights such as Shiba Jie Mahua (sweet fried dough twists), there are so many different things to try and they are all so cheaply available it is definitely worth taking the time to have a browse around the different carts and sampling a few things.
The other cuisine Tianjin is famous for is fish and river food, there are a great number of good seafood restaurants serving fish dishes with a Chinese twist. As well as these speciality restaurants you will also easily be able to find lots of Korean and Japanese restaurants. You can expect to pay around 100CNY for a meal for two in a decent restaurant in Tianjin (which is around £9).
There are a great number of hotels and guesthouses in and around Tianjin. This area in particular boasts a great number of mid-range hotels which are clean and comfortable but not in the realms of the luxury hotels that are also available in this area. However, you can definitely find your self somewhere decent to stay on a pretty low budget.
You can expect these type of hotels to cost you around £15 - £20 per night. The nightlife in Tianjin can be very lively, there are a great number of bars and nightclubs in the area, this is mainly due to the fact that Tianjin is a big university city and the nightlife is catered for that market. Therefore, slightly older travellers might be happier sticking to the quieter bars that are also to be found in this area.
Tianjin might be said by some to lack some of the vibrancy and buzz of other modern day Chinese cities but it certainly makes up for this with its plentiful tourist attractions and sites of historical interest. |

About TianjinTianjin is situated south east of Beijing on the Bonai Sea. It is a city of great historical interest and an extremely important part of the ever expanding Chinese economy. This is a great place for exploring and sightseeing with many wonders to visit. There is the Huangyaguan Great Wall, this wall was built by the Ming dynasty and is widely perceived as a mini version of the Great Wall of China. Also the Dule Temple is close by and this beautiful Buddhist building is well worth a visit along with its famous wooden carvings. |
