New York GuideEvery season is high in the year-round city of New York - it never sleeps; and there are special dates - Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, St. Patrick’s Day, St. Valentine’s Day.
You can also book TV and Movie tours, with special bus trips to take you to locations familiar from your favourite films and series. Tackling New York can seem somewhat daunting, so perhaps you might focus on the many free things to do and simply wander through the Brooklyn and New York Botanical Gardens, enjoy a perfect day at the Bronx Zoo or soak up information at the museums. There are special passes available for about $75 giving admission to many attractions, so there’s another way of focusing your time and effort and making the most of them.
You can dine for a song - plenty of cafes will serve more than you can eat for $5 - $15, and there is every cuisine imaginable - not forgetting traditional American with fries, burgers and beers. Nightlife includes hangouts, bars and night clubs. Some have imaginative themes - the Beauty Bar tells you to ‘kick back in an old barber's chair, slip your head beneath a 1960s hairdryer and order yourself a good strong cocktail’ - and there are venues for the gay community.
If your timing’s right you might be able to take in a baseball gameAnd of course, how could you not shop? Even if it is only of the window variety, you just have to take a stroll along Fifth Avenue, the most famous in the world with the most famous of the most luxury stores, and Madison Avenue, the ‘fashionable road’. This city has plenty for everyone. Deals abound, so look out for them whether you go alone, as a couple or in a group.
For example, during ‘Winter Restaurant Week’, many of New York's best serve meals at greatly discounted prices: three-course lunches for $24. 07 and three-course dinners for $35. 00.
