Aberdeen GuideBoth hotels would suit singles, couples and families alike. As for eating out, Aberdeen has hundreds of restaurants, one of the best being Cafe Boheme, which offers traditional French cuisine. Also, The Square has a modern menu – serving international cuisine in a contemporary setting.
On average, a two-course meal at an upmarket restaurant in Aberdeen costs approximately £25 per person (not including drinks).
Aberdeen is a historical city filled with art galleries and museums, such as, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Gordon Highlanders Museum, and Aberdeen Maritime Museum. There are also a few picturesque parks – Seaton Park and Duthie Park.
However, His Majesty’s Theatre is the number one hotspot in Aberdeen which has its own restaurant and cafe bar. The theatre even runs guided tours on Saturdays. Aberdeen also has some magnificent beaches, and Balmedie Beach, to the north of the city, has plenty of parking and is extraordinarily cheap (50 pence for four hours!), and is easily accessible.
The sand dunes provide perfect protection from the wind. Aberdeen has a vibrant array of pubs, bars and clubs due to its student population, but there is something for everyone. Frankenstein’s and Slain’s Castle cater for younger people, but for those who just want a quiet drink or two, the Prince of Wales is a more traditional pub and serves both fine ales and fine food.
The best venues for live music are the Blue Lamp (jazz) and Drummonds (alternative). Finally, for partygoers there are a couple of night clubs: Snafu and Babylon, which are both open until late. |

About AberdeenAberdeen is an industrial city, which is celebrated primarily for its oil industry. Its streets are filled with hotels and guesthouses, however, one of the best is the four-star Copthorne Hotel Aberdeen, who offer a generous 15% discount if you book in advance. In peak-season, a room including breakfast cost around £60 per person per night which is reasonable. At the Premier Inn, located in the city centre, for the pleasing sum of £71 per person per night (in peak-season), you can have a double room, breakfast, and a three-course meal. This is an excellent deal. |
