Dalyan town is only 25km from Dalaman International Airport and is easy to get around once you are there on one of the many Dolmus (small minibus) which run to all the popular tourist spots. The town and area is steeped in history and visitors have a pick of ancient tombs, relics and temples to visit. Not to be missed is the Acropol, a 5th century BC fortress built to protect an important temple and from the hill top you can clearly see the whole of the ancient town of Dalyan and the stunning Iztuzu coast. The Dalyan Mud Baths are famous for its many therapeutic hot springs and visitors come to be healed in the hot waters.
The sulphuric waters are believed to cure rheumatism and skin disorders and have been used since ancient times. The mud baths are thought leave your skin glowing and once you have covered yourself in the hot mud, wait for it to dry in the sun and then wash it off in the sulphur pool. If rolling around in the mud is not your thing, then check out the traditional public bazaar in town, famous for jewellery, carpets, hand made textiles, clothes, souvenirs and gifts or while away long afternoons in the many international and Turkish cuisine restaurants and bars in the town centre.
