This historic town is home to the Villa Vella (the old quarter) with its ancient defensive walls still intact. The walls were built in the 12th and 14th centuries and have been preserved with the original towers, both of which have become the symbol of Tossa de Mar. The walls are the only surviving example of a fortified medieval town on the Catalan coast, with quaint medieval alleys housing shops, restaurants and ancient houses it’s a lovely place to visit. Another good place to visit locally is the Sa Riera park; a man-made nature reserve made up of a Mediterranean forest, river and lake with an underground watering system designed to encourage a wealth of biodiversity of plant and animal life.
Hotels vary in the resort, however the stunning architecturally designed 2 star Hotel Diana with fabulous sea views is worth a stay, alternatively the 3 star Club Hotel Giverola with its welcoming apartments and villas and it’s perfect location by the beach is great for both adults and children.
