Olhos d’Agua is small and has just the one main street running down to the hill to beach. Its promenade, lined with palms is a very pleasant stroll and has a number of bars and restaurants. Since it is small, it is far quieter than, for example, Albufeira, but you should be aware that parking can be difficult.
The village has a pretty beach which is the main attraction in the village, as you have to venture further afield for more to do, but that makes it perfect for those seeking a relaxing holiday, hence its popularity with Portuguese families.
The beach – Praia d’Agua – is pretty and lined with palm trees and is well used by the local fishermen. Other nearby beaches include the Praia da Falesia, perhaps one of the most beautiful in this corner of the Algarve and Santa Eulalia, a gentle beach which is ideal for young children.
Olhos D’Agua is particularly famous for its fresh water springs which you can see among the rocks when the tide is out.
Like most places in Portugal and its regions, there is a wide variety of accommodation available to suit all pockets in Lagos.
Apartments are mainly in small complexes with their own communal pools for those who don’t want to take all their stuff down to the beach. There’s a supermarket on the way in to the village which is ideal for getting your holiday essentials from. The region is popular all year round and there is no part of the year which is “out of season”, making it a popular place for extended winter holidays.
