The short drive from the local airport to the bay painted a picturesque memory. I opted for a bed and breakfast accommodation as my party of two adults and 2 children were on a budget. We stayed at Gillieru Harbour Hotel - Old Town, which offered basic accommodation including a large indoor pool area with poolside entertainment for kids and more importantly was suitable for our budget. We spent some of the days on site relaxing at the indoor pool and at lunchtimes we strolled along the coast, admiring the scenes and spectacular views.
At night we ate at the several of the restaurants offering traditional and international dishes – some cheap, some expensive, but all very tasteful. The best views of the bay are at night when the buildings and coastline are alight and the streets are alive and bustling with locals and tourists. The kids enjoyed swimming and water sports on the seafront. Beware of the black sea urchins found locally.
