Avithos is the best beach for children as the water here is shallow.
The church here is one of the biggest on the island and has some stunning mural paintings, there is a go kart track and the old windmill where Lord Byron, an English poet, would sit is still standing along a dusty single track road. The village is very much a sleepy one, so perfect for a quiet and relaxing holiday but if you fancy a change of pace it is also conveniently located to enable further exploration of the island. There is a bus that will take you to the capital, which is about 20 minutes away and here the nightlife and shops are in abundance.
Although the area is quiet it does have a good range of accommodation, the Astra Villages Hotel and Suites is one of the best. Avithos Resort and Irinna Hotel are also highly recommended places to stay. A little further down the price range there is the Olive Grove Studios and the Sortiris Studios both of which have received excellent reviews from people that have stayed there.
