We were struck by just how beautiful the resort was. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment just 5 minutes from the beach in one direction and 2 minutes from the main town in the other direction. Lindos is a maze of narrow winding streets where only donkeys and people can just about walk side by side! Traditional Greek shops, bars and restaurants line the streets. We were advised on our arrival to purchase a map as it is very easy to get lost! We did get lost a couple of times but it was also a great opportunity to explore the town.
As we were a young couple (at the time!) we were interested in what nightlife Lindos had to offer. It had its fair share of nightclubs if we wanted to party all night but we also found there are lots of friendly mostly family run bars where we had a lovely meal and often stayed there all evening. We visited Lindos in mid June which is often the hottest part of the season. The temperatures regularly topped 100F and we often had to run across the beach to the sea because the sand was so hot! The beaches were very clean and in traditional style were laid out with sun loungers and parasols.
Although it is primarily a beach holiday, one day we visited St Paul’s Bay which is a little alcove about 5 minutes walk from the main resort. Here the beach is unspoiled and has some of the clearest waters on the island. If you want a relaxing day away from the crowds this is the ideal place to be. All in all we enjoyed our visit to Lindos, although at times it was a little too hot.
The best time to visit especially if you are a family with children is late August as the temperatures are a little cooler.
