There are horseback tours for all ages, boat trips which can take you around the island or even over to one of the uninhabited islands such as Tsougrai. There is some nightlife here in the form of restaurants and taverns but for something more lively head to Skiathos Town which is only 15 minutes away.
Hotels here vary but all in all you get what you pay for, some of the best are the four star Esperides Hotel which is one of the most desirable places to stay. It has an outdoor pool which is surrounded by lovely gardens and has a view out to sea, all the rooms have air conditioning, phone, radio, TV, fridge and some even have balconies and it is suitable for couples as well as families.
There is also the Elenis Apartments, these are located up a slight hill and about 100 meters from the main road, saying that though they are only about 600 meters from the town centre and the beach and the higher vantage point does give for some stunning views. The pool here even has a poolside snack bar and the TV in the lounge offers regular shows and some sporting events too.
