Green buses operate within the city and there are plenty of taxis around at good rates. If visiting in February or March watch the vibrant carnival or in September go to the Limassol Wine Festival. There is plenty of nightlife available with pubs, clubs and restaurants, for daytime entertainment there shopping on Anexartisias Street in the old town where there is a medieval castle. There is a truly incredible beach just on the outskirts of the town that has restaurants, sand dunes and a salt lake wonderful for bird watching.
There is a real variety of local food, not to mention other cuisines from all over the world and a lovely local drink called Zivania. Try a sweet wine, Commandaria, it is Limassol's specialty. There is a variety of luxury and international hotels but if on a budget try studio apartments which are available with self catering. L'Onda is a boutique hotel that is expensive but high class.
Le' Meridien Limassol Spa and Resort is reputed to be 'one of the best' and again is expensive. Kanika Pantheon Hotel is 3 star and rated to have excellent food.
