Tenerife is one of the seven Canary Islands it being the largest most populated one. It is a major tourist destination seeing around five million tourist each year the most of any other Canary Island. It plays host to one of the world’s largest carnivals and the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is attempting to become a World Heritage Site.

It is serviced by two main airports, Tenerife North Airport and Tenerife South Airport. The capital of the island is Santa Cruz de Tenerife and is the most autonomous community of the Canary Islands. The University of La Laguna which was founded in 1792 is located in Tenerife it is the oldest university in the Canaries. Around 200 BC is said to be when the earliest known human settlement existed on the island.

This settlement of people was known as the Guanches, they had very little technology even in comparison to Stone Age. They lived in caves around the island and dressed in animal hides. As with most holiday resorts in Spain the nightlife of is a varied one full of excitement. You can expect everything in the way of nightlife from foam parties, booze cruises and wild nights but you will also find traditional fiestas, great food and excellent family entertainment venues.

The place you will need to go is called Plays de las Americas it is host to many pubs and all night clubs. The hot spot is called Veronica’s a huge complex of bars and night clubs where you can party from dusk until dawn. Some other clubs worth mentioning are Tramp’s, Bobby’s and Busby’s are all among the most popular clubs providing a wide range of entertainment to choose from. As would be expected Tenerife is home many wonderful restaurants so dining will not be of any issue.

Some recommended places are Restaurnte Los Roques, Original Wigan Pier, Restaurant Pizzaria Pasta & Vino, Monte Christo and Tucan all fantastic places to eat. Tenerife is home to some amazing beaches the perfect destinations to spend part of your holiday at least swimming, relaxing and sunbathing. There are also some excursions to be availed of through out the area such as Quad Bikes Safari, Freebird Jeep Tours, and Atlantik Sur Dive Centre perfect family days out or even just for couples. Tenerife will provide a full action packed holiday for all who choice it as a holiday desintaion.
