Gran Canaria is located in the Atlantic Ocean it is an island of the Canary Islands. Just situated of the north-western coast of Africa and is the second most populated island, and third largest after Tenerife and Fuerteventura. The climate is of a large variety, summer is very warm with temperatures of 26 degrees Celsius and winter sees temperatures of 20 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures rarely fall below 10 degrees Celsius, and there are some annual rainfalls through out different seasons. Frost and Snow can occasionally be seen in the mountainous areas. Tourism is quite high and this island has annual expected visitors in the region of 2. 2 million, a third of this island is under protection as a Biosphere Reserve.

There are seven different reserves namely, El Brezal, Azuaje, Los Tilos de Moya, Los Marteles, Las Dunas de Maspalomas, Guigui, Inagua and Barranco Oscuro to name but a few. Gran Canaria as a capital was founded on 24th June 1478 by Juan Rejon head of the invading Castilian army. In 1942 Christopher Columbus landed in Port of Las Palmas and spent quite a substantial time on the island. The airport Gran Canaria is the fifth busiest in Spain.

It is located to the eastern part of Gran Canaria and seen 9,155. 665 passengers in 2009. The main mode of public transport in the area are buses known as Gauguas which offer a direct service connecting all areas including an airport run to get you to and from the airport. Activities can be enjoyed by all the family from a range of tours, shows and trips.
