Trinidad and Tobago has a diverse culture influenced by its various immigrants including, Indian, French, Chinese, African and Spanish. The largest religious groups in Trinidad and Tobago are Roman Catholics and Hindus, however, other small faiths do exist. The annual carnival celebration originated on the islands, and is held just before Ash Wednesday each year. The festival paves the streets with locals and tourists in brightly coloured costumes and days are spent dancing in the streets.
