South Africa, a country, which has only recently, emerged from separatism, is known as the rainbow nation because of its diverse culture. South Africa has a population of around 45 million of which 80% are made up of black Africans. Music has a huge bearing here; European classical music is heard at many concerts across the country as well as Jazz, Rock and Pop.

South Africa is a regular supplier of gold and precious stones, producing some of the largest diamonds ever seen. It is home to some of the most highly skilled jewellery craftsmen. There are eleven different languages spoken in South Africa including English, Afrikaans, and Ndebele, Sepedi, Zulu, and Tsonga which is usually the language of many of the native tribes.
