The culture of
Grenada is a combination of French, African, English and Indian influences. The European influence can be seen in the public buildings and Institutions throughout the Island with the African heritage playing a large role in family life and local culture. More recently, Indians have influenced the culture of the
Grenada also.
Due to the Islands mixed heritage, it has a diverse cuisine. There are many mouth watering dishes available in restaurants and a tantalizing array of street foods to be savoured. Music is at the heart of Grenadian culture with a yearly carnival in August of Soca and Calypso music. Reggae is also hugely popular as well as Zoku which has arrived from other French Caribbean Islands more recently.
