The Dominican Republic is a beautiful Caribbean island with stunning mountain ranges and rugged terrain. The island is renowned for its flamboyant costume, vibrant music and its much celebrated festivals which include folk dancing and parading girls. The island also has an interesting and diverse cuisine with a strong Latin American influence.

The climate is mainly tropical but can be susceptible to change. Spanish is the dominant language on the island and over the years, due to multicultural influences there is now a mix of languages being spoken including German, Italian and French.
